Course Description
This course is a skill developing intensive training course designed for personnel who train officers in the field use of the patrol rifle. Students will develop critical instructional skills in the patrol rifle as well as in the tactical use of the patrol rifle.
Note: This course is open to only law enforcement and military personnel
Course Objectives
Instructor Development:
- Instructional methods
- Lesson plan development
- Course of fire development
- Analysis and coaching of shooters
- Safety considerations when planning and conducting patrol rifle training
- Students will demonstrate proper teaching techniques
Tactical Marksmanship Development:
- Fundamentals of both tactical and precision shooting
- Tactical movement
- Safety while conducting tactical marksmanship with the patrol rifle
- Courses of fire with induced stress
- Close quarters battle techniques
- Emergency function techniques (one handed/disabled methods, shooting and reloading)
- Operation, and use of special equipment (lights and sighting systems) and techniques for diminished light (with and without special equipment)
Ammo/Equipment Requirements
Patrol rifle with sling, Combat optic (optional), 5 magazines minimum, Handgun with duty leather/3 magazines, Magazine/ammunition pouches, Hydration system, Sunscreen and bug spray, Hat with a brim. Eye and ear protection, Ammo: 700 rounds rifle, 150 rounds pistol (ammo is for entire week).
